So you fancy yourself as a band reviewer do you?
Well, this is your opportunity and we are keen to read your views You have two ways to do this:
* Using the Star rating system
* Writing a review
The BritBus Team consider many different factors when selecting a band for the BritBus Tours - and this is one of many.
Star Rating
Next to each band entry we have a star scoring system so you can mark them out of 5. You can only rate a band once.
Written Reviews
For those of you who actually enjoy writing a review, we would encourage you to make your own thoughts known.
At the end of the Showcase Tour we will be awarding prizes to the top reviewers. Make sure you register if you wish to eligible - we need to know who you are. And no, you can't write a review about your own band, that is cheating.
A few tips on reviews:
1) Be objective. When listening to their songs or if you have been to a performance, take out all the emotion. If you're subjective, it's hard to pinpoint the reasons of why you liked or disliked something. Objectivity leads to honesty. Something may sound horrendous to your ears. But, a good writer takes that sound and gives facts why it was horrendous. Objectivity writing is writing with facts. Subjective writing is writing with opinions.
2) Listen with a discerning ear. Listen to a song's lyrics. Try to understand the song's meaning and what it's trying to convey. Some songs have hidden messages. Your job as a reviewer is to uncover those messages. Take in each word and each lyric.
3) Read about the artist's history. To understand a song, you first should try and read about the artist and learn about why they composed the song.
4) Put more emphasis on the positives. A review tends to be negative. Don't harp on the bad aspects. When you look for the bad in something, you'll probably fool yourself when finding it. Look into a song's positives. The negativity will be obvious. However, the good in a song's lyrics, rhythm or flow needs to be unearthed.
Good luck - we appreciate your feedback and reviews!
